Children of the lesser Gods!

The biggest gift to us is consciousness. Realization of ones consciousness is so important for the overall development of an individual. Those who understand this, try to gain self consciousness gradually and work on it constantly, though attaining the highest state of consciousness is impossible for the common being. Was watching one of the videos of the yoga guru, BKS Iyengar, and it was amazing how this great man still believes that he has not achieved complete consciousness of the self!

As we develop as individuals, we conquer different levels of consciousness, one level at a time. But its a pity how some get stuck at certain level and never go up from there! Im not talking about those who do not know what consciousness is!! This post may sound like some completely different language to such.

Getting back to those who know what it is, have made efforts to attain consciousness and then... at some point, have got stuck! I have observed few such individuals, who in the path of progress with consciousness, are stuck at a certain level, not to come out of it forever! I really feel sorry for this. Have been trying to think about different ideas to make something work... but all in vain. It seems as if a dark curtain has shielded their eyes from realization. A sort of blindness... it is like first love... which makes one completely blind to rest of the world! And by the time one realizes that they are stuck... it would be a long time and rest of the world would have moved on! With great compassion to such people and quoting Sri Aurobindo, I feel like saying that they are Children of the lesser Gods!

This post is not directed at any individual. It is just an observation of one of the behaviors of human beings!

I agree. Some people have to take a lot of births to realize the importance of self-realization.

In my favourite book, "The Secret Teachings of the Vedas", it is said that the true human journey starts when one asks herself the question of "who I am".

A lot of children of lesser gods (as you phrase them), don't realize about their consciousness because of past lives, or the way they've been brought up or just something else.

It might take some individuals, thousands of rebirths before they can get themselves out of this material world realize the simple truths of life.

just an observation on the comment of Aakanksha:
" thousands of rebirths" - the recollection of such, not thousands but millions and billions, of the Lord Buddha are collected as the Jataka Tales!

Read them when time permits.... I would like to see them as Darwin's theory in the story form
:)
